You'll safely learn the foundation practices of Hatha Yoga taught by an experienced teacher with decades' experience. We believe yoga is for everyone, and welcome absolute beginners!

About this Course

Attending regular yoga classes can sometimes be daunting, so we have designed a course to put you at ease. The emphasis is on safely stretching, strengthening and relaxing through a series of movements, breathing and relaxation techniques.  You'll also learn the theory behind the practices so you gain an understanding of the principles and philosophies of yoga as a system of wellbeing. This gentle, introductory yoga course designed for:

  • absolute beginners;

  • people with conditions which may prevent them joining regular classes;

  • anyone who feels insecure about being in a group class or new environment;

  • anyone wanting an understanding of the fundamental and underlying principles of yoga;

  • anyone simply wanting a respectful class at a gentle, introductory level.

  • anyone wanting affordable and accessible yoga tuition.

  • kids are welcome and come at no charge when attending with their parent/s (please specify when booking).  

  • If you can't attend in person, attend from home. Everyone who registers receives access to a private FB group for this course where videos of classes are live-streamed, and the ebook and resources are archived to support your continuing education and home practice.

What you will learn

This course provides a thorough introduction to traditional yoga and includes the foundation poses and practices known to bring strength, health and resilience to your body, and calmness, peace and clarity to your mind and soul. β€‹

  • introduction to both traditional and modern approaches to yoga

  • how to practice Hatha Yoga safely and appropriately

What to expect

  • Please arrive early to register, relax and unwind before the class.
  • Kookaburra Creek Yoga Centre is a rural property 2 km from Armadale. The entrance drive and carpark is gravel so please wear sturdy shoes.
  • We request that you reverse park where possible and take up as little space as possible. 
  • There is a top carpark close to the studio which is level with disabled access.
  • The class is for 75 minutes and includes a short introductory talk, centring meditation, yoga breathing practices, warm up practices, yoga sequences, relaxation.
  •  If you arrive late come in quietly and sit at the back.
  • We email take home notes and practice sheets which include background information, questions for journal writing, and diagrams of poses and practices learnt during the course.

What to wear and bring

  • No need to bring a mat or equipment. We provide all the equipment you will need, including yoga mats, blankets, bolsters and cushions. Chairs available if needed.
  • We don't wear shoes during yoga so please leave shoes outside and also please to endeavour to have clean feet. 
  • We'll be moving, stretching, sitting and lying down so wear comfortable clothes.
  • Bring your own non-breakable drinking water bottle.
  • Please don't interrupt other students. If you bring your mobile have it on silent mode.
